Young Social Innovators (YSI) have just launched the Social Innovation programme 2013. Young people, between the ages of 15 and 18 years, are encouraged to take part in raising social issues, and suggesting solutions which can positively impact local communities and the world.
Sr Stanislaus Kennedy of the Religious Sisters of Charity, co-founder and chairperson of YSI, said that all of the 5,000 young people who took part in the 2012 programme deserved congratulations for their efforts. “The resilience, determination and understanding demonstrated by the young people who took part in this year’s programme is commendable. In very adverse times for Ireland, they have shown themselves to be capable of identifying solutions to problems…Policy makers and those charged with shaping our future can look to these innovations for considerable inspiration.”
