In the broad area of spirituality, we are involved today in retreat work and spiritual direction. Our centres, Stella Maris and The Sanctuary, are used to hold retreats, guided prayer groups and workshops. We also offer quiet space for prayer and reflection.
Stella Maris is a Retreat Centre located on the magnificent Howth Peninsula along the North East coast of Dublin, a place of natural beauty with its sweeping and breathtaking views, where one is instinctively drawn to God and to the Sacred. We have lived here since 1893 and originally managed it as a retreat centre for ourselves. Presently a small group of sisters reside in community.
Today our ministry in Stella Maris offers a place of welcome and hospitality to many religious and lay people, who come for day events, afternoon or evening sessions, eight day retreats, occasional week-end events or to spend time alone in our self-catering hermitage.
In this sacred place of beauty and peace visitors are invited to spend time reflecting on their own lives and their experiences. They are invited to pray and be still in order to draw close to their own hearts, to the heart of creation and ultimately to the heart of their God.

The Sanctuary is a Spirituality Centre located in the heart of Dublin city. It is situated on what was originally part of the site that housed the first novitiate of the Religious Sisters of Charity in 1819.
It is an oasis of beauty and tranquility fostering and nurturing stillness in contemporary life.
The Sanctuary was founded by Sr Stan in 1998 and is open to everyone seeking and searching for meaning in life. The Sanctuary is now a company limited by guarantee and its vision is “To be…Stillness…in the world…”
